Dennis is a nationally recognized expert in non-profit executive search as well as board and leadership performance coaching. Dennis is the former president and CEO of Somerset Medical Center and Foundation. His reputation as a respected healthcare executive resulted in numerous honors. Dennis has a passion for helping the not-for-profit sector. In his words, "not-for-profit organizations are the glue that keeps the community going". An expert in board governance, leadership development, philanthropy and succession planning, he is a sought-after motivational speaker and retreat facilitator. Dennis grew up in Jersey City, NJ. In his childhood he experienced trauma from living with a father that was both emotionally and physically abusive. Dennis used humor as a coping mechanism. At 20 years old he admitted himself to a psychiatric hospital due to feeling depressed and in need of support. A priest became a source of support an encouragement when Dennis left the facility. He finally experienced what it was like to have someone believe in him. With his incredible spirit intact and the motivation to create a life he would be proud of, he went to college and started taking steps towards his incredible career path. At the age of 50 Dennis was seeing a therapist, but felt ashamed that he needed the support from outside resources. He mentions during the interview that he felt that he was a successful professional to the outside world, but emotionally he was still feeling childlike. The therapist said something eye-opening, "it is ok to need me". At the age of 65 Dennis decided it was time to share his story. He wrote the book, 'Moppin' Floors to CEO: From Hopeless and Failure to Happiness and Success'. - 1564 FBF: Retirement Investing with Dennis Miller Author of ‘Retirement Reboot’ and RetireMentors Columnist for MarketWatch
Flashback Friday Original Publishing Date: June 29, 2013 Dennis Miller is the author of a book called Retirement Reboot and the only retired RetireMentor columnist on Marketwatch. Jason Hartman interviews Dennis about his experiences and research on retirees and investing. Dennis is also the author of the weekly newsletter Millers Money which has over 150,000 subscribers. Dennis surveyed his readers about how much inflation is a reality in their lives. Over 3,000 people responded and the results were staggering. The reality is that retirees living off a fixed income know EXACTLY how much the price of basic necessities have gone up. They can not only tell you exactly how much the price went up, they can tell you how much the packaging has downsized and how the quality has diminished. Dennis has tapped into the real fear faced by retirees. These three columns that came out of the results really sum up how the government inflation numbers are not a true reflection of how retirees live their lives which is why they seem to be feeling inflation to a greater extent. • Only 1.6% thought inflation was 1 – 2% • 14.2% of readers thought inflation was 3 – 5% for them • 34.9% thought inflation was 6 – 8% for them • 25.7% thought inflation was 9 – 10% for them • 23.6% thought inflation was over 11% for them For more details, visit www.JasonHartman.com. - REP: Larry Fitzgerald, Al Michaels with Dennis Miller and Steve Hutchinson
Larry Fitzgerald, Al Michaels with Dennis Miller and Steve Hutchinson... Rich Eisen and the podcast crew recap Week 1 of the NFL season before Rich dials up Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald’s Cardinals fell 27-24 to the St. Louis Rams on Sunday, even with the All-Pro receiver hauling in eight receptions for 80 yards and two touchdowns. Fitzgerald and Rich discuss how new coach Bruce Arians has changed the mindset in the Cardinals’ locker room and is putting quarterback Carson Palmer and the rest of the team in the right situations to succeed in 2013. Al Michaels then joins the podcast in-studio for discussion about Week 1 and looks ahead to the rest of the season. Michaels is fresh off of calling Peyton Manning’s seven-touchdown performance in the Denver Broncos’ “Thursday Night Kickoff” win over the Baltimore Ravens. Rich and the crew surprise Michaels halfway through the interview with a phone call from his former “Monday Night Football” booth partner, the always hilarious Dennis Miller. Miller and Michaels take a trip down memory lane and share some great behind-the-scenes stories from the broadcast booth. The show rounds out with seven-time Pro Bowl left guard, and University of Michigan alum, Steve Hutchinson dialing in to discuss the Wolverines’ big win Saturday over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
