  • An Open-Ended Conversation with Federico Faggin

An Open-Ended Conversation with Federico Faggin Federico Faggin created the self-aligned MOS silicon-gate technology, which made possible memory chips, CCD image sensors, and the microprocessor. He designed the Intel 4004, 8008, and 8080 microprocessors, as well as the Zilog Z80 and Z8 processors. In 2010, he received the 2009 National Medal of Technology and Innovation, the highest honor the United States confers for achievements related to technological progress. He is author of Silicon: From the Invention of the Microprocessor to the New Science of Consciousness, and also Irreducible: Consciousness, Life, Computers, and Human Nature. His website is http://www.fagginfoundation.org/ This open-ended conversation focuses on the relationship between free will, consciousness, and the quantum field. Faggin argues that many of our current social problems result from society’s false view of reality, based on an outdated understanding of physics. New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in “parapsychology” ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). He is also the Grand Prize winner of the 2021 Bigelow Institute essay competition regarding the best evidence for survival of human consciousness after permanent bodily death. He is Co-Director of Parapsychology Education at the California Institute for Human Science. Connecting the inner world and the outer world, physicist Federico Faggin reveals his work studying the physics of spirituality. This episode of Mindrolling with Federico and Raghu includes these topics: Federico's life growing up in Italy Neuroscience and studying consciousness How physical feelings come from electrical processes in the brain Connecting spirituality and physics Considering if a computer could be programmed for consciousness Faggin's experience recognizing the inner love that comes out of us How quantum physics proves the interconnection within the universe Federico's perspective on freewill and determinism in our lives Going beyond what science has done The limited freedom we have while incarnated Predicting our behavior and how our consciousness is watching all Grace and the unpredictability of free will The divine mystery and why it will never be resolved About Federico Faggin: Federico Faggin is an Italian-American physicist, engineer, inventor and entrepreneur. He is best known for designing the first commercial microprocessor, the Intel 4004. He led the 4004 project and the design group during the first five years of Intel's microprocessor effort. Federico Faggin is one of the greatest luminaries of high technology alive today; his work underlies the modern world's entire information technology. His new book, Irreducible: Consciousness, Life, Computers and Human Nature, was just published in May of 2024. “I eventually ended up deciding that I was going to spend the rest of my life studying consciousness and trying to connect spirituality and physics. In other worlds, connect the other inner world of experience and meaning with the outer world of symbols and matter in space and time.” – Federico Faggin

  • 10. The History of Silicon Valley With Federico Faggin [FourWeekMBA Podcast]
    FourWeekMBA

In this session, I interview Federico Faggin, physicist, engineer, inventor, and serial entrepreneur . Federico has been the protagonist and among the founding fathers of Silicon Valley. In fact, with his work at Intel, in the 1970s he has given birth to the family of microchips, on top of which a whole industry has been built upon! Today microchips are everywhere, and Federico’s creation has spurred a business world worth trillions. He’s also the author of an incredible book: Silicon: From the Invention of the Microprocessor to the New Science of Consciousness Gennaro [FourWeekMBA]: To get this conversation started, there are many that I’d like to cover, because your story, it’s interesting because it crossed a few industries that changed, let’s say, the business world in the last decades. The first time I heard your name, just for a bit of context, was in 2012. I remember I was reading the book by the Microsoft co-founder, Paul, Allen, and not everyone knows him. But pretty much remember that this book was published in 2012, by the time I was living in San Diego, California, but pretty much I was reading this book, which is a memoir by Paul Allen. And in the introduction, actually, he mentioned how the project that you were working on back in the days, it was 1974, the 8080 with actually the 8080 chip, which we’ll see about this conversation, actually changed and created the whole industry. Actually, it created the context for companies like Microsoft to drive in the first place. In the intro to his memoir, co-founder of Microsoft, Paul Allen, explained how Federico Faggin’s design of the 8080 would create the premise for Microsoft to be built in the first place! How did you get into engineering and computers when you were a young boy? How do transistors work? Can you tell us about your years at Intel and how you got to design the chips that would open up a whole new market? <a href="https://fourweekmba.com/history-of-silicon/#Intel_was_hesitant_to_move_to_the_microprocessor_they_didnt_think_the_real_market_value_was_going_to_be_there_How_did_you_convince_the

  • 046 - The new science of consciousness with Federico Faggin

My guest on this episode is the Italian-American inventor, entrepreneur and conciousness researcher Federico Faggin. Federico was one of the first scientists and inventors to work on the micro-chip and he played a crucial role in the development of technology we all rely on today. After years of developing important inventions for large companies, including INTEL, Federico founded his own enterprises. For anybody with an interests in the history of computing his new book “Silicon” will be fascinating. For us here of course it is the second part of that book that is of interest as Federico eventually had a spontaneous cosmic consciousness experience that shifted his focus from professional productivity to exploring consciousness. Given his particular scientific background, which includes quantum physics, that is the model he works with. I personally have a casual interests in quantum physics. The popular science texts I have read about it are as mind expanding to me as accounts from inter-dimensional travellers. But I am always a bit wary of people in the new age space who try to apply quantum physics to human consciousness without a proper grounding in the science. This is why I feel very fortunate to be able to have this conversation with someone who definitely knows what he is talking about on the science and who applies this to his own experiences. As Federico himself says, the only way to study consciousness is to experience it. If you want to understand the implications of quantum physics to the study of consciousness and the many altered states we can experience, this conversation is a good place to start. And if you like playing with different perspective on life I encourage you to use the information in this conversation for a little experiment. You can do that by spending a day reminding yourself that you and everyone you meet are “conscious quantum systems engaging with the physical dimension through your bodies”. If you do that experiment I’d love to hear how you feel. You can drop me a note on my Facebook Page, Multidimensional Evolution, or via the email on my website. As always, don’t believe in anything, experiment and have your own experiences. • Future Home With Arroe Collins And Special Guest Federico Faggin
    Future Home

The creation of the microprocessor launched the digital age. The key technology allowing unprecedented integration, and the design of the world’s first microprocessor, the Intel 4004, were the achievement of Federico Faggin. Shrinking an entire computer onto a tiny and inexpensive piece of silicon would come to define our daily lives, imbuing myriad devices and everyday objects with computational intelligence. In Silicon, internationally recognized inventor and entrepreneur Federico Faggin chronicles his “four lives”: his formative years in war-torn Northern Italy; his pioneering work in American microelectronics; his successful career as a high-tech entrepreneur; and his more recent explorations into the mysteries of consciousness. In this heartfelt memoir, Faggin paints vivid anecdotes, steps readers through society-changing technological breakthroughs, and shares personal insights, as each of his lives propels the next.
