  • Katherine Ryan’s BRUTAL Advice on Olivia’s LOVE Life, Alex vs Alix & Celebrity Facelifts!

We’re joined by one of the UK’s sharpest comedians, Katherine Ryan! Known for her brutally honest takes, razor-sharp one-liners and ability to say exactly what everyone else is thinking, Katherine brings her signature wit with a sisterly side to this conversation. From her rise in comedy to becoming one of the most recognisable voices in British entertainment, Katherine opens up about beauty, ageing and the realities of being a woman in the spotlight, including the SHOCKING price she was quoted for a facelift and why she chose not to tell anyone before going through with it. We get straight into it: relationships, trust, and why she believes men are always “one mistake away from blowing up their lives.” Katherine also turns her attention to Olivia’s dating life, delivering brutally honest, big-sister advice with so much warmth it catches Olivia off guard. It’s equal parts savage and supportive, and impossible not to love. They also dive into her take on being high maintenance and why more women should own it, before getting into a hilariously honest discussion about “post nut clarity” and what it really says about modern relationships. Plus we get Katherine’s reactions to celebrity drama including Nikki Glaser on Call Her Daddy , Alex vs Alix, and the chaos of the online world. Katherine also recounts wild stories from her school years, the things she somehow got away with, and what life looks like now with a teenage daughter and three young children. Unfiltered and effortlessly funny with a side of tough love, this is Katherine Ryan at her absolute best. Podcast Description: Welcome to Olivia's House - Olivia Attwood’s stylish, intimate podcast blends sharp humour with unfiltered, heartfelt conversation. • Katherine Ryan, comedian
    Desert Island Discs

Katherine Ryan is a Canadian comedian and writer. Her edgy and provocative routines have led to sell-out tours, comedy specials on television and her sitcom series The Duchess. Based on her experience at the time, the Duchess tells the story of a successful, happily single mother and Katherine wrote it out of frustration because she believed no one else was telling a story like hers on screen. Katherine was born in Sarnia in Ontario where she attended a local French-speaking primary school. The school celebrated the arts and Katherine became a musical theatre enthusiast who could sing, dance, write and act. Later she moved to Toronto where she studied city planning and worked for a branch of the restaurant chain Hooters. She credits the latter with teaching her the value of being entertaining and smart. In 2008 she relocated to London with her boyfriend and a few years later she got her big break as a comedian, performing on the panel show 8 Out of 10 Cats. By now a single mother to daughter Violet, she developed a rapport with audiences by sharing stories from her own life – both funny and sad. She describes her tendency to connect with her fans in this way as her “language of love”. In 2019, while filming an episode of the BBC series Who Do You Think You Are in Canada, she met up with her high school boyfriend, Bobby. They hadn’t seen each other for 20 years but the spark was still there and later that year they married in Denmark and went on to have two children together. The programme was recorded on September 6th. • Lessons From The Month with Dr Waheed Arian, Katherine Ryan, Fernando Alonso and Peter Attia

August was filled with perspective changing and vulnerable conversations about what high performance really looks like. Jake takes a look back at some of the key insights from our guests over the last month. Dr Waheed Arian challenged Jake's ever-shifting view of what high performance really means, by sharing the obstacles he overcame when moving from war torn Afghanistan to the UK at age 15 to become a doctor. Jake and Damian discussed how our biggest mistakes can make for our greatest achievements, with comedian Katherine Ryan. Formula 1 legend Fernando Alonso opened up about the true price of high performance, and Jake learns what Fernando would do differently a second time around. Our final guest of the month, Peter Attia, changed Jake's outlook on life with his idea of the centenarian decathlon. • E210 - Katherine Ryan: When I had nothing, I had everything

Katherine Ryan is a comedian and writer, best known for her appearances on 8 Out of 10 Cats, Taskmaster and her stand-up special on Netflix, Glitter Room. Originally from Canada, Katherine made the bold move to London in 2008, and shortly thereafter had her first daughter. Becoming a single mum at the age of 25 and isolated from family, Katherine shares with Jake and Damian how this experience fuelled her determination and resilience. “When I had nothing, I had everything”, Katherine’s focus and dedication to her daughter's well-being gave her the strength to fearlessly pursue her stand-up career. In this episode, Katherine takes us behind the scenes of her comedy path, reflecting on her journey from scraping by as a single mom to her decision to create space for women in the industry by stepping away from Mock the Week. She offers insights into finding positivity in life and leading with gratitude, and sheds light on the reality of hard work.
