Synopsis: "After 17 years in prison, Marvin returns to his hometown to face the repercussions of the demons from his past." In this interview, Award-winning Actress #KathyBates and Writer/Director #FrankaPotente speak on the concept of forgiveness in the movie and in real life. HOME is a poignant and insightful movie, as much about remorse as it is about forgiveness and moving on. After Marvin returns home, he finds that much has changed - except people's perceptions and dislike of him. Navigating a return to life on the outside, and his relationship with his mother, is not an easy journey. It raises questions about what it means to truly change, and whether or not change is enough for some situations. One of the most endearing scenes is when Bernadette (Kathy Bates) finally shows the guilt she has been carrying, as mentioned in the interview. As the nation sees yet another school shooting, the thought of not forgiving in even easier to understand. Also starring #JakeMcLaughlin and #AislingFranciosi . . Interview note: We were short on time, so Aisling, who was such a doll, wasn't able to get to the question! . . . On a personal note - this was another unexpected "moment" for me. In college, during the very first independent film festival I had volunteered for, Kathy Bates gave a speech and after it she walked passed me as I was ushering in the aisles! 🤣 If I remember correctly, she was also one of the very first well-known celebrities I encountered (in a roundabout way) outside of school. I remember someone asking me if I had "met any celebrities yet," since I moved out there for school. And I recall saying something like, "Kathy Bates walked passed me." Not to mention, Kathy Bates is such a living legend! Additionally, for years, one of my favorite words to use - often in a joking way - is "scheisse" - which I learned from "Run Lola Run," and I've used it ever since. 🤣 As with others, it was also a great experience to do this interview and hear about their perspectives and approaches for working on different projects.
