Winona Ryder nació el 29 de octubre de 1971 en Winona, Minnesota. La actriz, de nombre real Winona Laura Horowitz, cambió su apellido por el de Ryder como homenaje al cantante Mitch Ryder. En 1978, se mudó junto a sus padres y siete familias más a Rainbow, una comuna donde no había electricidad ni televisión. Allí nació su pasión por la lectura y por el clásico de J.D. Salinger, «El guardián entre el centeno». A los 12 años, entró en el American Conservatory Theater, donde tomó sus primeras clases de interpretación. En 1986 debutó con el drama adolescente «Lucas», al lado de dos futuras estrellas, Charlie Sheen y Corey Haim. Después de ver «Lucas», Tim Burton decidió contratarla para interpretar a una adolescente gótica en la película «Bitelchús», uno de sus personajes más icónicos. En 1990, volvió a trabajar con Tim Burton en otra cinta fundamental en su carrera, «Eduardo Manostijeras». Pero debido al agotamiento, tuvo que rechazar la oferta de interpretar a la hija de Michael Corleone en «El Padrino 3», de Francis Ford Coppola. Entre los muchos títulos destacables de su filmografía se encuentra la serie «Stranger Things» y películas como «Escuela de jóvenes asesinos», «Noche en la Tierra», «Drácula, de Bram Stocker», «Reality Bites», «Alien: Resurrección» o «La edad de la inocencia», con la que ganó el Globo de Oro en 1994, como mejor actriz de reparto. Lola Lapaz es docente de guión y de narrativa audiovisual en la UPC y en la UOC, y acaba de debutar en la literatura con la novela «La juventud era una extraña enfermedad», publicada por Uno Editorial. Entre sus trabajos más destacados se encuentra «Champán para todos», un documental sobre el músico y escritor Sergio Algora, líder de bandas referenciales del indie español como El Niño Gusano o La Costa Brava.
