Chantal Vignola 0:16 Thanks for asking me to be here. It's a privilege. I'm honoured. Matthew Parker 0:20 I'm grateful. shantelle is a wonderful resource. We're very lucky to have her. She's been in the real estate industry for over 13 years. She's sold over 500 million in real estate. She's sold over 450 homes and she's been a medallion member for many years now. Again, Chantel Thank you. We're going to jump in more of a fun personal question before we get into the real estate stuff. But what's one thing that not many people would know about you? Chantal Vignola 0:49 Well, I would like to share that I auditioned for Canadian Idol. So back in 2005 I went down to metrotown and had my cute little outfit on and, and, you know, when I went in and did my audition and saying it's a long story, but I made it through a couple of rounds. And so that was fun. But I ended up singing The Little Mermaid on point and it's pretty embarrassing, but yeah, it was. It's a it's a fun story to share. Needless to say, I didn't become the next Canadian Idol but I made it through a few hours. So yeah, Matthew Parker 1:30 you might be doing better with real estate than that. That's okay. Okay, Chantal Vignola 1:36 I'll tell parties sometimes. Yeah, Matthew Parker 1:38 we might have to end with a two with the mermaid tune at the end. Yeah, yes. Thanks for sharing. That's how it goes a great story. So then what got you into real estate then what how did you get started in the industry? Chantal Vignola 1:51 I both my parents are in commercial real estate. My mom is the VP of sales for shape. She's doing amazing Redwood So I've grown up in real estate and we lived in Yaletown, we were in one of the first buildings in Yaletown quality marinaside Crescent in 1998, before anyone had moved into that hood, and I saw the city develop around me and so I it was always very interesting to me. And, and I kind of just went with it. So growing up in real estate and then being literally raised in the hub of the city brought me in this direction. Matthew Parker 2:26 Yeah, same same with me really growing up around mortgages. It's It's such a such an easy trick. It's an easy transition is is...
Problems featured in this episode: What's the deal with shoe sizes? Buy my body! Re-refridgeration. Nice knick-knacks for nieces. Bec Hill: http://bechillcomedian.com/ Matt Parker: http://standupmaths.com/ CORRECTIONS: 01:04 Matt says "early adapter" when he means "early adopter". But it could be both. It’s a podcast that changes you. 18:08 Bec says "4" instead of "6". Don't worry: the maths was all ok. Phew. 26:22 Bec says "implicit permission" when she means "explicit permission". She will definitely double check before she repurposes any one else's teeth.
MATT PARKER BIT TWISTED 13.8.19 by Matt Parker DJ
Matt Parker, First Mix In A While 22.2.11 by Matt Parker DJ
This mix covers my coming up period within the Yorkshire DJ clique and it revolves loosely around the era of my first Nightclub residency. The Old Corn Mill - Feb 97 to Oct 99 (Thanks Harvey Westwood) and my introduction to PLC Clubs nationally (Yes Jon!) Without these two events, I wouldn't still be loving my role and the scene Im proud to be part of. Finally - My brother (on right) Jimbob! Who at about the same time as Turntables were acquired and mobile discos ensued. Brought home two CD's that would change our lives forever - There was actually three if you included my House Collection Volume 3.Jimbob's contribution was Todd Terry - A Night In The Life and One Half Of A Decade from Ministry of Sound. WOW! What Albums, and wev'e been hooked to Turntables and when we get the chance - House Music, ever since! Right then, onto my mix.Done in true C90 fashion like back in the day -Check levels with first track - Record - 1 Take - BOSHI chose tracks that defined my "coming up" era in the Yorkshire DJ pecking order. I also chose Records that individually they stand for various things... I have wrote a few words alongside each track to illustrate what they stand for or the memory it brings back. I have tried to capture the essence of a Club Records back then. I believe that in todays Simon Cowell (similar to the PWL days) driven music market on a COMMERCIAL level. Dance music is chart music and chart is dance to monopolise on the dancefloors, radio waves and music channels all in one go.Back then you went to the Club to hear the club mix and you heard the radio version in the car on your way to work for example! On the flip side to that. My mix also showcases a cool and groundbreaking Instrumental that made it onto Kiss 105's playlist at its launch in 97. A takeover shortly followed and with the renaming to Galaxy, the edgier music and its dj's sadly found themselves out the door and the 8 song rotation playlist had started. Enjoy the memories! I had a smile on my face for the full eighty minutes as various venues, people and incidents that may have occurred would pop into my head as Records were playing... Thanks! Spinal Scratch - Thommas Bangalter Moment Of My Life - Bobby D’Ambrosia I See U Hiding Ur Bud Groove Armada vs DJ Sneak It's Not Right But It's OK (Club 69) Whitney Houston Cevin Fisher Feat.
