In the new film Destroy All Neighbors , starring Alex Winter ( Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure ) and Jonah Ray Rodrigues ( Mystery Science Theater 3000 ), a self-absorbed prog-rock musician runs afoul of his new neighbor which leads to a lot of undead corpses and becomes a "twisted splatter-comedy about a deranged journey of self-discovery." Directed by Josh Forbes and written by Jared Logan, Charles Pieper and Mike Benner with Winter and Rodrigues producing as well as starring, Destroy All Neighbors — debuting on the Shudder streaming service January 12 — tells the story of William Brown (Jonah Ray Rodrigues), a neurotic, self-absorbed musician determined to finish his prog-rock magnum opus. He faces a creative roadblock in the form of a noisy and grotesque neighbor named Vlad (Alex Winter). Finally working up the nerve to demand that Vlad keep it down, William inadvertently decapitates him. But, while attempting to cover up one murder, William’s accidental reign of terror causes victims to pile up and become undead corpses who torment and create more bloody detours on his road to prog-rock Valhalla. Destroy All Neighbors is a twisted splatter-comedy about a deranged journey of self-discovery full of goopy practical FX, a well-known ensemble cast, and LOTS of blood. _______________________________________________________________ Talking Strange Paranormal Podcast with Aaron Sagers is a weekly paranormal pop culture show featuring celebrity and author interviews, with a weekly "Small Talk" mini-sode with reader submitted letters and spooky tales. This week, host Jesse David Fox sits down with comedian and Mystery Science Theater 3000 host Jonah Ray and writer Dave Schilling to do a special crossover episode with their podcast, Galaxy Brains that’s all about Jesse’s favorite sitcom of all time, Seinfeld. Jesse, Jonah, and Dave discuss whether or not Seinfeld’s best joke is actually that these characters who hate each other are stuck together for eternity. Is Seinfeld actually an elaborate dramatization of purgatory? They also dive into what each character represents in Jerry’s psyche, how Jerry’s approach to comedy differs from Larry David’s, and if Seinfeld was the pinnacle of New York comedy. 👇 🤖 Contribute to the MST3K Kickstarter! 🤖 👇 https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mst3k/makemoremst3k The second episode we ever recorded is our lucky number 13! And we are raving about Mystery Science Theater 3000! One of Jon's favorite television shows... that Indy has never seen an episode of. Terrible movies being relentlessly mocked, all in the name of laughter. Since 1989 Joel Hodgson's brain child, MST3K, has been taking the weirdest and often times the most unintelligible movies ever produced and turning them into comedy gold by riffing a new layer of jokes, quips and wise-cracks over the existing footage. The show was canceled in 1996 and revived on Netflix in 2017 for two very funny seasons with new host Jonah Ray at the helm. Jon talks to Jonah about being the third host of the iconic show, meeting Joel Hodgson and being able to work on the show that he loved as a kid. We really appreciate him taking the time to chat with us and for putting up with Jon's power going out at the end. We hope that this episode will inspire you to donate to the kickstarter campaign so we can all see some more MST3K from this outstandingly hilarious cast! Jonah Ray does comedy, music, and talking… SO good. ‘Mystery Science Theatre 3000: The Return’ came on Netflix in 2017, and I’ve been a Jonah-phile ever since. I became an instant fan of SeeSo original ‘Hidden America w Jonah Ray’, CC’s ‘The Meltdown w Jonah & Kumail’ and a fan of nothing more than the podcast Jonah Raydio, where Jonah (a ‘Nerdist’ alumn) along with his friends Cash Hartzell & Neil Mahoney hangout, talk about music and jab each other silly. Through this podcast I discovered Jonah’s musical prowess (oh, a contributor for SPIN! btw) and bought the DOPE A F “You Can’t Call Me Al - EP”, a tribute to his friend and icon Weird Al Yankovic. Have I given the interweb-bots enough career titles? I’d like to highlight here in paragraph 2, that Jonah’s been dropping more mad science internally and physically, than creatively in the last while. We talk about the scope of his career and how he feels about his time in Los Angeles; where everyone for the most part, has seen him through adolescence. He talks about the strides he’s made to improve his health & outlook and about moving forward after years of a latched-on persona. A through-line, is both an appreciation for public creative work and our shared love of putting things together as children, that lead to everything after. This episode features 6 awesome songs, by Jonah Ray, Hop Along, Queen Ansleis & Kali Kazoo… most of which I discovered and fell for while listening to Jonah Raydio. Jonah Ray, photo by me. Welcome to REPLY ALT, the world’s only newsletter about music. Today’s edition is once again a podcast. Please see previous episodes with: Sarah Tudzin [Illuminati Hotties], David Anthony , Chris Farren , Lauren Denitzio [Worriers], Todd Taylor [Razorcake], and Jenny Owen Youngs . They’re also available on streaming services like Spotify and Apple and all that. Oh and subscribe to REPLY ALT if you don’t already for some god unknown reason! Today’s newsletter/podcast is an interview with Jonah Ray . You may Jonah from… well, a lot of things, actually. That was a theme in much of our chat—making something of yourself in our hellish gig economy. Because why have one big job when you can have 65 smaller gigs, baby! (Thanks, boomers!) Jonah is an actor, a comedian, a musician, and, most importantly, a paid subscriber to REPLY ALT. He has been the host of the revived Mystery Science Theater, co-hosted The Meltdown with Kumail Nanjiani, hosted the podcast Jonah Raydio ( on which I have been a guest ), and once starred in a Bing commercial. Jonah and I had a really good chat about trying to impress our parents with our “careers” in the arts (which we determined is a waste of time), growing up and going to punk shows in Hawaii, finding the backdoors to success, and his band in which he covers Weird Al songs . Jonah Ray lives in Los Angeles. We used to work in a record store together in Venice Beach. He's is on tour working on material for a new comedy record. He was nice enough to invite me backstage at The Fremont Abbey in Seattle to record a podcast episode. He sings a few Mel Brooks songs and a "Weird" Al cover from his new album on Asian Man Records. We talk about old days and new days and MST3K. Jonah, Cash and Neil make a podcast called Jonah Raydio that I love and you should listen to next. Thanks for listening.
