In the new film Destroy All Neighbors , starring Alex Winter ( Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure ) and Jonah Ray Rodrigues ( Mystery Science Theater 3000 ), a self-absorbed prog-rock musician runs afoul of his new neighbor which leads to a lot of undead corpses and becomes a "twisted splatter-comedy about a deranged journey of self-discovery." Directed by Josh Forbes and written by Jared Logan, Charles Pieper and Mike Benner with Winter and Rodrigues producing as well as starring, Destroy All Neighbors — debuting on the Shudder streaming service January 12 — tells the story of William Brown (Jonah Ray Rodrigues), a neurotic, self-absorbed musician determined to finish his prog-rock magnum opus. He faces a creative roadblock in the form of a noisy and grotesque neighbor named Vlad (Alex Winter). Finally working up the nerve to demand that Vlad keep it down, William inadvertently decapitates him. But, while attempting to cover up one murder, William’s accidental reign of terror causes victims to pile up and become undead corpses who torment and create more bloody detours on his road to prog-rock Valhalla. Since 1989 Joel Hodgson's brain child, MST3K, has been taking the weirdest and often times the most unintelligible movies ever produced and turning them into comedy gold by riffing a new layer of jokes, quips and wise-cracks over the existing footage. The show was canceled in 1996 and revived on Netflix in 2017 for two very funny seasons with new host Jonah Ray at the helm. Jon talks to Jonah about being the third host of the iconic show, meeting Joel Hodgson and being able to work on the show that he loved as a kid. I became an instant fan of SeeSo original ‘Hidden America w Jonah Ray’, CC’s ‘The Meltdown w Jonah & Kumail’ and a fan of nothing more than the podcast Jonah Raydio, where Jonah (a ‘Nerdist’ alumn) along with his friends Cash Hartzell & Neil Mahoney hangout, talk about music and jab each other silly. Through this podcast I discovered Jonah’s musical prowess (oh, a contributor for SPIN! btw) and bought the DOPE A F “You Can’t Call Me Al - EP”, a tribute to his friend and icon Weird Al Yankovic.
