Nachdem Rudolf Höß, von 1940 bis 1943 Kommandant von Auschwitz, gefoltert worden war, log er mit an Sicherheit grenzender Wahrscheinlichkeit, um das Leben seiner Frau und seiner Kinder zu schützen. Selbst wenn Folter und Zwang nicht nachgewiesen werden könnten, ist die Tatsache, dass die von ihm beschriebene Vergasungsmethode wissenschaftlich unglaubhaft ist, ein überwältigende Grund dafür, um zu erkennen, dass Höß’ Geständnis völlig falsch ist.
