Avi Loeb is the head the Harvard's Galileo Project and founding director of the Black Hole Initiative, Avi Loeb searches for extraterrestrial intelligent life. He is the author of nine books, including the bestselling ⁠Extraterrestrial: The First Sign of Intelligent Life Beyond Earth⁠ , as well as more than a thousand scientific papers on topics such as black holes, the first stars and the future of the universe. Loeb also directs the Institute for Theory and Computation at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and is an elected fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is a former member of the US President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, a former chair of the board on physics and astronomy of the National Academies and was the longest-serving chair of the Harvard Astronomy Department. His most recent book, ⁠Interstellar: The Search for Extraterrestrial Life and Our Future in the Stars⁠ , was published in 2023. Loeb has written 8 books, including most recently, Extraterrestrial (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2021), and about 800 papers (with an h-index of 117) on a wide range of topics, including black holes, the first stars, the search for extraterrestrial life and the future of the Universe. Loeb has written 8 books, including the book he is here to promote Extraterrestrial (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2021), and about 800 papers on a wide range of topics, including black holes, the first stars, the search for extraterrestrial life, and the future of the Universe. He had been the longest-serving Chair of Harvard's Department of Astronomy (2011-2020), Founding Director of Harvard's Black Hole Initiative (2016-present), and Director of the Institute for Theory and Computation (2007-present) within the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. In this episode, we talk about his new radical position that we already have the proof of Extraterrestrial intelligence. His book is a shot across the bow in the scientific community that would rather not even consider the idea we now have proof that we are not alone in the universe.
