With California's primaries just around the corner, a seismic shift is happening — and many Californians are either clueless or in denial. The recent endorsement of Steve Hilton by Donald Trump has turned the political rumor mill into a full-blown circus, threatening to upend the state's already fragile political landscape. If the Trump endorsement was meant to sway the race, it might just be fueling a chaos that could curse or empower Californians' future. In this episode: The impact of Trump endorsing Steve Hilton and how it could reshape the Republican primary race. Why California's usual politics are being challenged by fresh, outsider candidates like Hilton and Bianco. The possibility of a Democrat boycott or continued stagnation as the party struggles with internal divisions. Predictions on whether California is heading toward a political upheaval or a return to “business as usual.” Critical issues like ballot harvesting, homelessness, and voter trust—none of which are being adequately tackled by the candidates. How elites and billionaire tech moguls are pushing for socialist policies and what that could mean for a state long used to political dynasties. Send us a text Maine punches above its weight in the Senate. If you want to make something happen or solve a problem, you call Susan Collins. Collins is known for doing her homework. You can bet that when she comes to a conclusion, she can back that decision up with facts, figures and intuition, gained from her experience. I have known the Senator since 1994, but really got to know her when she ran for the US Senate in 1996. While there are times when we don't agree on an issue, I have long admired her work ethic (She is a county girl at heart) and her attention to detail, never fearing to ask all the questions and get answers, so she can make a good decision.
First, Jake talks to NIH Director Dr. Francis Collins about the CDC’s new mask guidance for vaccinated individuals. Then, Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine joins Jake to discuss the status of the bipartisan infrastructure deal in the Senate. Next, Jake presses Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia on if he’s committed to passing both an infrastructure deal and a sweeping reconciliation package. After that, Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York tells Jake her party’s failure to extend the CDC’s eviction freeze before it expired is unacceptable. Finally, Republican Gov. Mike DeWine joins Jake to discuss his efforts to contain the spread of the Delta variant and drive-up vaccinations in his state.
