On this episode of The Movie Podcast, Daniel heads to SXSW in Austin, Texas to sit down with Zazie Beetz, Patricia Arquette, and Producers Andy and Barbara Muschietti of THEY WILL KILL YOU. Following the interview, Daniel, Shahbaz, and Anthony are joined by Director Kirill Sokolov for a more in-depth discussion of the film, with light spoilers. In the film, a desperate woman answers a cryptic ad for a live-in housekeeper at a luxurious yet foreboding New York City high-rise. Upon arrival, she uncovers the building's sinister history: residents have vanished without trace for decades, fueling whispers of a Satanic cult lurking in the shadows. What starts as a gig from hell spirals into a fight for survival against ritualistic horrors and twisted loyalties. They Will Kill You is out now exclusively in theatres. For Season 2 Episode 8 of Severance, it’s the Harmony Cobel Show. And there’s no one better to break it down with Ben and Adam than Cobel herself — Patricia Arquette! They talk all about how she built Cobel’s backstory and how Newfoundland became the perfect Salt’s Neck. Then, Ben and Adam are joined by Severance superfan Jimmy Kimmel to answer some of the your burning hotline questions, including: would you rather be a fetid moppet or a shambolic rube?
Oscar winner and three-time Golden Globe winner actress-recently-turned-director Patricia Arquette, a member of the international jury presided over by Luca Guadagnino which will decide upon the winner of the Golden Star of the 21st Marrakech International Film Festival, talks about bestowing and winning awards, and discovering films by fledgling directors – especially in light of the fact that she herself made her debut as a director last year, with "Gonzo Girl" (starring Camila Morrone and Willem Dafoe). The "True Romance" revelation, known to be a fervent activist for women's rights, talks about healthy anger, and how every one has a part to play in the world. Arquette also mentions the many incredible directors she has worked with – from David Lynch to Tim Burton, John Boorman and Richard Linklater, to name but a few –, reveals she is working on a memoir, and tells us how she is embracing Moroccan culture, and taking her role as a juror very seriously.
We spoke to the cast of AppleTV+'s new hit show, High Desert, set to premiere in a few days. We spoke to Bernadette Peters, Christine Taylor, Keir O’Donnell, Weruche Opia & Rupert Friend. First of all, we talked to the legend that is Bernadette Peters, and she was wonderful. She was funny but honest. She was excited to step into a role and show like nothing she had ever seen. Meanwhile, Christine Taylor and Keir O'Donnell joked that they play the "normal" ones in this drama/comedy. We talked about a scene with them heading into a restaurant at a table that just had us laughing. Finally, we spoke with Weruche Opia and Rupert Friend, both of which were so excited for fans to see what's to come this season, excited for the chaos they got to play, and gave a lot of propers to the legends Peters and Arquette (everyone gave props to those legends). This show is so much fun; the actors were just a delight. Enjoy! Host: Monica Gleberman Editor: Polina Jdanova Social Media Graphic: Jojo -- Synopsis: "High Desert” follows Peggy (Patricia Arquette), an on-again-off-again addict who decides to make a new start after the death of her beloved mother, with whom she lived in the small desert town of Yucca Valley, California, and makes a life-changing decision to become a private investigator. *“High Desert” will premiere globally with three episodes on Wednesday, May 17 and new episodes premiering weekly on Wednesday thereafter, exclusively on Apple TV+, through June 21.
