- #181:The Courage to Choose Divine Love with Hayley Michelle Andrews
Some people talk about “not settling.” Hayley Michelle Andrews lived it. What happens when the life you’ve built is good… but your soul is quietly whispering this isn’t it ? This conversation is the collision point between destiny and doubt, where biology, timelines, and fear meet the inconvenient truth that almost-love still isn’t love . And where a woman learns to trust the ache instead of numbing it. Hayley is a devoted mother, a sacred-union teacher, and a woman who walked away from a safe, stable relationship at 34 with the biological clock screaming at her, because she could feel, in her body, that her real love existed somewhere she hadn’t met yet. And then she met Sam. A man she recognised not from logic, but from memory. In this episode, we explore the entire emotional ecosystem behind soulmate-level partnership: the longing, the leaving, the ache, the self-trust, the timelines, the grief, the shadows, the courage, and the exact moment divine love arrives. And then the story takes a turn, because the love of her life ends up being sentenced to nine years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. And she chooses him anyway. This isn’t a story about romance. It’s a story about conviction, devotion, identity, and the difference between desperation and desire. Inside this episode we explore: • The moment Hayley realised “good enough” is still a form of self-abandonment • Why the ache is not a problem to fix, but the compass that leads you home • Age, timelines, and the mythology of ‘running out of time’ • The mythic feeling of meeting “your one” • The shadows that sacred partnership exposes • What actually creates secure love • Prison, devotion, and redefining commitment • Motherhood as initiation| • How Hayley rebuilt her life from the ground up This conversation is a masterclass in feminine self-trust, emotional courage, and what it means to refuse the life that’s “almost right” in service to the life that is fully yours . It is an ode to the women who are waiting, aching, praying, doubting, strengthening, and holding their standards even when it’s hard. If you’ve ever felt torn between the comfort of certainty and the truth in your body, this episode will feel like someone finally put your experience into words. Episode 4! We made it despite feeling like the world is ending! Abbie starts off crying in the intro talking about the virus that she said she DID NOT want to talk about, but then makes up for it by giving you a bomb episode with ZARA MCDONALD and MICHELLE ANDREWS, hosts and founders of Shameless and Love Etc. They talk about what COVID-19 was like at the time of recording (11 days ago... which feels like 11 years ago) and give advice to a listener who is feeling insecure about her boyfriend liking photos of girls who look nothing like her. Then, they talk about Zara and Michelle's amazing careers thus far, and you are gifted with some advice. Michelle and Zara host Shameless and Love Etc, both of which you should listen to RIGHT NOW if you're part of the 1% of my listeners who don't already. - How the Shameless brand exploded, with Zara McDonald & Michelle Andrews
Zara McDonald and Michelle Andrews are journalists, Co-Hosts of the Shameless Podcast, and Co-Founders of Shameless Media. What I like about these two media entrepreneurs is their ability to identify what works editorially in an overlooked market. The pushback they received from one of the largest digital-first, female media brands, would have taken some fortitude to withstand. But the principled approach to what they believed would work, and that there was a need for a pop-culture podcast for “smart women who love dumb stuff”, birthed a rational community of women and a business that neither Zara or Michelle probably thought was possible. One year and three months later, they lead a growing community, and have just announced their first branded podcast with Bumble Australia, titled Love etc. I’m fascinated to see what the next few years hold for these two. In this episode we covered: * How much they owe to The Daily Mail * The death of the celebrity profile * The rise of Shameless * Shameless Media & monetisation * Creator burnout and mental health * Confidence and imposter syndrome * Election results and diversity of opinions
