In the second part of our series, pop culture historian Jamie Loftus takes us through the meteoric rise of Pee-wee Herman and the withering of Paul Reubens' world as dubious allegations surface that threaten to turn a beloved children’s character into a real life villain. Jamie tells us about his struggle to reconcile the character of Pee-wee with the real Paul Reubens, and how his longtime friendships became his sanctuary until the very end. Jamie Loftus (comedian) is BACK and faces a problem that a lot of us do in the podcasting world: having a reply guy that lets you know every week why they're not going to listen to your show anymore, and trying not to let it get to you. Thankfully for Jamie, she catches a block and doesn't have to deal with this particular person anymore. There's a lot of stuff we don't wanna deal with this week as we discuss undecided voters, nepo babies, and we go really deep on Bugaboo Creek, a Canadian-ish themed restaurant with animatronic animals that Jamie loved as a kid. Plus, Jamie hates the new Twitter algorithm, Donald Trump says yet another insane thing, and Elon Musk sets a new precedent with what is probably the worst tweet of all-time. If you want to hear about more of the worst tweets, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty , where we talk about a bunch of them! For just $5, you'll get THREE new bonus episodes every single month PLUS you'll get access to our entire back catalogue of over 150 episodes. It's the best! Last week, Becca rejoined the show for a mailbag episode and coming up this week, our good friend Luke Taylor joined us to discuss Canadian CGI cartoon ReBoot. You won't wanna miss it! We also have a Discord, merch discounts, ad-free episodes, and MORE so check it out! And a reminder we are going LIVE with Top Three Weekend II, October 11th and 12th at the Biltmore Cabaret in Vancouver, BC. Our friends at Guys and Not Even a Show are going to join us for 4 shows over two nights, and it's gonna be a blast. Weekend passes and individual show tickets are available now at bit.ly/top3weekend . See you there! Jamie Loftus is a comedian, author, and podcaster, whose latest project, Sixteenth Minute, is available now wherever you get your pods. You can also follow her on Instagram at @jamiechristsuperstar . Jamie Loftus (comedian, writer) returns to the show for a monumental 250th trip around the BP solar system, and perhaps unsurprisingly, we delve into her recent past in the world of hot dogs, as she gets extremely worried she's going to get blocked by hot dog eating legend Joey Chestnut after writing about him in her great book, "Raw Dog". It's a beautiful story that she's so eager to tell, she tells it during the social media update portion of the show. But who cares! It's a great episode that John is forced to record at a "podcast bar" in Calgary as he completed his move but his house does not yet have internet. We spend an awful lot of time discussing that situation, as well as Brockton, Massachusetts' own Rocky Marciano and the 24-foot statue devoted to him in his (and Jamie's) hometown, prompting a brief guest appearance from Jamie's dad, sportswriter Mike Loftus, in the form of a note to help place his career among the boxing greats. Plus, Stefan finally gets a great promoted post and we discuss vitamin overdoses and Mario Kart. If you want to overdose on Vitamin BP (Blocked Party), you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty , where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every dang month. Coming out this week, Stefan made his triumphant return to the stand-up stage after a 13-year absence, and Dan captured the whole thing on video for your enjoyment. John's set will be on there too. Plus, Stefan Takes an L returns this month, and a donation gets you merch discounts, access to our Discord, and access to our entire back catalogue, which is over 100 episodes. Overdose indeed! Jamie Loftus is a comedian, writer, and podcaster, whose bestselling book, Raw Dog, is out now. You can also listen to her weekly on the Bechdel Cast, or listen to any one of her critically-acclaimed podcast series, the most recent of which was Ghost Church. You can follow her on Twitter at @jamieloftusHELP and on Instagram at @jamiechristsuperstar . Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Title: Raw Dog: The Naked Truth About Hot Dogs Author: Jamie Loftus Narrator: Jamie Loftus Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 9 hours 38 minutes Release date: May 23, 2023 Ratings: Ratings of Book: 4.14 of Total 14 Ratings of Narrator: 5 of Total 3 Genres: Comedy, Satire & Parody Publisher's Summary: One of BookPage's Best Audiobooks of 2023 'Loftus is a charming narrator...goofy, engaging, and always game to do a silly voice.' —The New York Times 'There’s something terribly irresistible about her narration, which is often incredibly funny.' —BookPage Part travelogue, part culinary history, all capitalist critique—comedian Jamie Loftus's debut, Raw Dog, will take you on a cross-country road trip in the summer of 2021, and reveal what the creation, culture, and class influence of hot dogs says about America now. “Wise and funny” —ANDY RICHTER • “Gonzo yet vulnerable” —GABE DUNN • “Hot dog Moby-Dick” —BRANSON REESE • “Revealing, funny, sad, horny, and insatiably curious” —SARAH MARSHALL • “A wild ride” —ROBERT EVANS • “Deeply incisive and hilariously honest” —JACK O’BRIEN Hot dogs. Poor people created them. Rich people found a way to charge fifteen dollars for them. They’re high culture, they’re low culture, they’re sports food, they’re kids' food, they’re hangover food, and they’re deeply American, despite having no basis whatsoever in America's Indigenous traditions. You can love them, you can hate them, but you can’t avoid the great American hot dog. Raw Dog: The Naked Truth About Hot Dogs is part investigation into the cultural and culinary significance of hot dogs and part travelogue documenting a cross-country road trip researching them as they’re served today. From avocado and spice in the West to ass-shattering chili in the East to an entire salad on a slice of meat in Chicago, Loftus, her pets, and her ex eat their way across the country during the strange summer of 2021. It’s a brief window into the year between waves of a plague that the American government has the resources to temper, but not the interest. So grab a dog, lay out your picnic blanket, and dig into the delicious and inevitable product of centuries of violence, poverty, and ambition, now rolling around at your local 7-Eleven. “One of the freshest and most insightful new comedic voices of this decade.” —LINDSAY ELLIS A Macmillan Audio production from Forge Books.
