- The Bellissimo Files - Special Episode: A Chat With Wendell Pierce (Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan)
Today, I’m taking a slight deviation from the Movies and Me podcast to bring you a special short episode. I’m going from the big screen to the small screen because recently I got to chat to one of the stars of Jack Ryan, Wendell Pierce, who plays James Greer. Before this we came to love him as Bunk in The Wire, and, Robert Zane, Rachel’s dad (Meghan Markle) on Suits. I loved him in all of those roles so I was thrilled to get to chat to Wendell about what he has loved most about being a part of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan; what acting means to him; and of course we couldn’t not talk about The Wire. Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan is streaming on Prime Video now. I am taking a break from the regular Movies and Me podcast. It will be back in September. In the meantime, feel free to go back and listen to episodes you may have missed. If you like what you hear, feel free to rate and subscribe and as always, feel free to get in contact with me on Instagram or TikTok - @sarinabellissimo on both of them, to let me know who you’d like to hear on this podcast next and get to know a little more about them, through their movie choices.
- #243 Then You Run, A Thin Line, and Blindspot. With guest Wendell Pierce
We're in the company of The Bunk this week as Wendell Pierce aka Jack Ryan's James Greer, joins us on the podcast to talk that show's final season. Plus, we go on the run in Rotterdam with Then You Run on Sky, hang out with eco hacktivists in A Thin Line on Paramount+ and hit the beat with Ross Kemp in Blindspot on Channel 5. All that and the team puts to the test how well they truly know each other when forced to programme each other's desert island box sets.
- 2023 New Dramatists Luncheon with Wendell Pierce
Working the press line for the New Dramatists Luncheon is one of my favorite events. This year they are honoring prolific, Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, Suzan-Lori Parks. Check out my moment with Tony Award winning producer and now a Tony Award nominee for his brilliant acting in Arthur Miller's DEATH OF A SALESMAN. - “The Redheaded Stepchild” (with Wendell Pierce and Andre Royo)
Casting director Alexa Fogel explains how tricky it was to cast one of The Wire’s lead characters, Jimmy McNulty. We hear from Dominic West, Wendell Pierce, and Andre Royo about scoring their roles and the unique prep work they did to ace their performances. Domenick Lombardozzi and Jim True-Frost weigh in on the precarious nature of the show, which often felt like it was on the verge of cancellation. Producers Karen Thorson and Nina Noble round out the episode with memories of executive producer Bob Colesberry, who passed away unexpectedly between seasons. Learn more about your ad choices.
