Follow Sarah Khan— it's freeIn this episode of The Law Firm Owners Podcast, I’m joined by Sarah Khan Bashir, founder of SKB Law, to explore one of the biggest mistakes I see law firm owners make: building a profitable law firm that no longer feels human. If you’re a law firm owner, managing partner, solicitor or legal entrepreneur focused on growth, profitability and scaling your law firm , this conversation will challenge how you think about success. Sarah shares her journey of moving away from the traditional model of legal practice and building a firm that aligns with her values, her clients, and her life. In this episode, we cover: Why many law firms become profitable but lose their identity The danger of building a business that takes over your life How to define success beyond just revenue and profit The importance of building a values-led law firm culture Why empathy and human connection are a competitive advantage in legal services How to create a people-first law firm that still drives strong profit margins Using AI in law firms to reduce admin and improve client experience How to make legal services more accessible and affordable The role of leadership in creating a safe, high-performing team culture Why law firm owners must learn to let go of control and delegate effectively Sarah also shares how her firm has achieved consistent growth and strong profit margins by focusing on people, purpose, and long-term impact rather than short-term gain. If you’ve ever felt disconnected from your firm, overwhelmed by the workload, or questioning whether this is what success is supposed to feel like… this episode will resonate. Send me a direct message! This episode dismantles the gap between generic business advice and the strategic depth established women leaders actually need. Sarah breaks down a recent experience that highlighted the disconnect between free advice, context, and advanced leadership goals. She examines why so many programs marketed as “advanced” are built for beginners, what seasoned women really want at this stage, and how to vet anyone selling strategy, masterminds, or high-ticket support. Expect: • Why advice hits wrong when it ignores your lived experience. • The emotional weight experienced women carry and why it makes mismatched guidance feel destabilizing. • How the online industry consistently underserves women with real expertise and leadership ambition. • What advanced women actually want: purpose, impact, depth, and legacy-level influence. • How to evaluate whether a strategist or mastermind is built to support someone at your level. • Five targeted vetting questions you can use immediately. Send me a direct message! In this powerful, leadership strategist and speaker Sarah Khan dismantles one of the most ingrained forms of conditioning ambitious women face — being the invisible backbone of other people’s success. Sarah explores how women in midlife have spent decades holding up organizations, leaders, and legacies that rarely hold them back — becoming indispensable but invisible in the process. She unpacks how loyalty, usefulness, and quiet excellence have been weaponized to keep women small, and why recognition, authority, and visibility are not ego, but equity. Listeners will learn how to: Identify where they’ve been supporting instead of leading Reclaim authorship over their brilliance and contributions Set boundaries that re-educate others on their value Redefine visibility beyond performance Restructure power dynamics to claim credit, compensation, and authority This is a call to every midlife woman who’s tired of holding up structures that were never built for her. It’s time to stop being the scaffolding of someone else’s legacy — and start building your own. Love what you heard? Let’s stay connected! In this episode of Confronting Your Chaos, we go through part 4 which is the conclusion of the Clarity Catalyst Process -- the approach that I use with clients to help them determine the narratives that serve them so they can bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to be. This is my favourite step, and proves to be the hardest piece to to go through with clients. It often challenges clients about things that will make them so resistant to what I am saying that it could make them feel defensive, and at the same time challenges them to figure out things that will be so enlightening, that they will feel like the biggest weight is taken off their shoulders. I go through a personal story that impacted my decision to become an entrepreneur and to demonstrate how every moment, every situation has more than one narrative, and you will need to choose which one dictates your life. If you would like to learn more about how to apply this process to your narratives, send me a message at Sarah@SarahKhan.org or via DM at Sarah Khan | LinkedIn Clarity Catalyst Series Narratives Explanation: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/confrontingyourchaos/episodes/Episode-18--Who-Gives-a-BLEEP-About-Stories--Clarity-Catalyst-Series--Tangent-e2lcta8 Part 1 https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/confrontingyourchaos/episodes/Episode-16--Remember-Your-History-of-Victory--Clarity-Catalyst-Series--Part-1-e2krbq9 Part 2 https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/confrontingyourchaos/episodes/Episode-19--Whats-Your-Vision--Clarity-Catalyst-Series--Part-2-e2lf5oq Part 3 https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/confrontingyourchaos/episodes/Episode-20--Your-Stories-That-Made-You--Clarity-Catalyst-Series--Part-3-e2lqeal
Send me a direct message! Do you ever find yourself in "default mode"? Let me backtrack...It's no secret that corporate programming runs deep. I admit, with zero shame, that sometimes when things get tough I default to working harder because it's something I can control -- and I know I'm not alone. This week, I share a technique that I have used to help me shift my perspective when I feel myself diving deeper and deeper into work as a way to distract myself from other things -- only to find when I no longer need to distract myself, I'm entrenched in the bad habit of equating productivity with worthiness. Here is my 5-step audit, a process I go through regularly but especially when I need to recalibrate, when things feel overwhelming, or when I feel stuck. Step 1: Make a gratitude and celebration list Step 2: Give yourself some loving truth bombs Step 3: Check your goals Step 4: Re-evaluate your habits Step 5: Make a ditch list Want more info? Shula shares insights into the ways entrepreneurs, especially those unable to afford therapy, can manage their mental health, including the stigma and fear that sometimes keep us from seeking help at all.
