- Make Your Own Luck
In the podcast studio deep inside the Franklin W. Dixon Memorial Library, Jeremy Hahn is recording the latest episode of his Dogboy Adventures fan podcast "Greetings from Colta City." He’s invited his theater buddy Clara Danvers on to dissect Dogboy's "subversive" violence, but he didn't plan for the chemistry crackling across the studio in his meticulous show doc. While Jeremy hides behind his fandom, Clara derails the recording with a plot twist he never saw coming. A romantic story about the roles we play to protect ourselves and the courage it takes to make a move. In the aftershow, creator Bill Meeks chats with Rebecca Johnson (voice of Clara Danvers, host of Supergirl Radio , and the voice of LeAnne Snyder on The Fakist ) about their long history as creative collaborators, starting as rival Once Upon a Time podcasters before launching sister podcasts based on DC Comics TV properties . They look back on their history of "bringing the heat" to each other's projects, including the time Bill voiced the spectral Deadman for Rebecca’s Supergirl Radio holiday special . A celebration of the community hiding in the "clerical work" of fan podcasting and the joys of a creative partnership that spans a dozen projects and more than a decade. - Episode 191- I Can't Be A Wizard- A Sorcerer's Stone retrospective (with Rebecca Johnson!)
In this week's ball-vanishing episode, Magnus launches an epic megaseries of mega epicness. For too long (far too long, some would say), Magnus has narrowed his focus down on comics. And we all love comics, it's true. But isn't there more to geekdom than just comics? Or shouldn't there be? Magnus sure thinks so! And what Magnus believes is pretty much the definition of what is. So beginning this week is the aforementioned epic megaseries of epic meganess or something wherein Magnus takes a look back at two separate movie franchises. Or an entire movie franchise in one case and the beginnings of a different franchise in another case. But anywho, up first this week is Harry Potter & the Sorceror's Stone. Rebecca Johnson was kind enough to join in for the fun this week to take a fond reappraisal of the first of the two Chris Columbus Harry Potter flicks. What worked? What didn't? And what makes Harry so freaking interesting anyway? Rebecca and His Excellency also take a few moments to explain the humble beginnings of their Potter fandom and where it all came from. The secret origin of their Potter enthusiasm, if you will. So what more do you need? Start listening now or Rebecca will send the troll over to your house to wreck shop on your bathroom and stuff. Due to the blitzkrieg of badassitude this week, unfortunately there's just no time for listener feedback this week. But don't cry about it, some is coming in the future! So dry your eyes! Use the time wisely! This would be an opportune time to send in any feedback you may have as the vault could get totally cleared out of feedback in the relatively near future. So get to writing! In the meantime, though, don't let the lack of feedback this time get you down! You can still offer your feeble effort at tribute! You humble serfs are always welcome to kiss your benevolent leader's ring. Corrupt DiManzocorp interns are ready, willing, able and eager to accept your bribe to present your meager missives to your wise emperor. The email address to use is trentusmagnus@gmail.com as the other seems to be having technical problems. In an another sublime act of truly unprecedented charity, your emperor permits you lowly rabble to suggest topics for a future episode. Thus, petitions may be sent to trentusmagnus@gmail.com for DiManzocorp interns to review, whereupon your leader might consider thinking about the possibility of potentially discussing whatever you have in mind some day. And that's a promise!
