- Having the Courage to Heal your Past Trauma with Melora Hardin [Meet in Malibu Series]
If you don’t take care of your trauma and don’t heal and work to overcome what may have happened to you in the past, you just leave a trail of destruction behind you. It could be with your children, your friends, or your partner. This week, episode 70 of The Jen Marples Show is about taking the time and having the courage to face your trauma. Melora Hardin (The Office, Transparent) played Cindy Prescott on an NBC Saturday morning show for kids in 1977 called “Thunder.” Hunter Austin, who had been raped at seven by a stranger in a park bathroom, found her only solace and connection as a little girl through “Thunder” and wished Cindy/Melora would come through the TV screen and help her. Melora and Hunter serendipitously meet four decades later. With Melora’s guidance and friendship, Hunter finds her voice, her womanhood, and ultimately breaks free from the violent sexual trauma that kept her suffering in silence for so long. Hunter’s courage and willingness to be so raw and honest in front of the camera challenges Melora to be vulnerable as well, and they create a deep sisterhood that becomes the beacon of light that dissolves Hunter’s shame. In this episode of The Jen Marples Show, we discuss: The courage it takes to truly heal your past trauma and make changes that positively impact those around you. The beauty of female friendships and how we can better support each other. How Hollywood has it wrong. Young women want to learn from women at midlife and see examples of us working, living, and loving so they have us as mentors and role models. Melora’s documentary series Thunder, Hunter, and Me and the profound impact making the series had on Melora and Hunter, their shared healing journey, and the beautiful friendship that resulted. Midlife is a great time to finally look at your trauma, work towards healing, and set yourself free. Make sure to listen to the entire episode to receive inspiration, tips, and advice that will help you change your life and improve your business. Thank you for listening!
