Follow Jazz Jennings— it's freeOpen conversations about gender and identity are more pervasive than ever. Policies impacting gender identity and transgender youth dominate the headlines and ballots. How can parents really guide our kids through big questions about who they are and who others are, with openness instead of fear? Jeanette Jennings, president and cofounder of the Trans Kids Purple Rainbow Foundation — and mom to trans activist Jazz Jennings — shares how her family learned to listen, adapt, and lead with love as Jazz discovered her identity. Later, developmental and clinical psychologist Dr. Diane Ehrensaft helps parents understand what gender is (and isn’t), why it matters, and how to start these conversations at home. Key takeaways for parents: Every child has a gender story. As parents, it’s our job to listen to their story. Talk openly about gender to build empathy and confidence for everyone. Establish as a family what support and allyship looks like for you. Expand our own understandings of sex, gender, gender expression, and sexuality to have conversations about it. Being tolerant is not the same as being welcome. ⏱️ Timestamps: Follow Jeanette Jennings on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jeanette_jennings_ Follow Dr. Diane Ehrensaft on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ucsfchildrens/ New episodes every Tuesday: YouTube: https://swap.fm/l/P8iCjNFnIWI7kTmU0vmk Apple: https://swap.fm/l/kCnCRNdWkpuYYbyzyE77 Spotify: https://swap.fm/l/SOQe4gSHh3vVIwPGFDet Or wherever you get your podcasts. 🔗 START HERE 📌 Get free weekly conversation kits: https://akidsco.com/pages/raising-us 📌 Browse A Kids Co. books that pair with episodes: https://akidsco.com 📌 Follow Elise Hu: https://www.instagram.com/elisewho ABOUT THE SHOW Raising Us | Parenting Podcast for Kids, Tweens, & Conscious Caregivers Award-winning journalist Elise Hu (TED Talks Daily, Forever35

This is my response to Season 7, Episode 1 of "I Am Jazz." I expected horrors and I was still unprepared for the inferences that I made while watching it, that I am very hopeful will help other young people who developed compulsive eating behaviors following puberty blocker administration. A core argument in this episode is that the puberty blockers directly malformed Jazz's hypothalamus, which relies on gonadotropin releasing hormone exposure at a pulsatile (rhythmic, fluctuating) rate to form. Lupron, a puberty blocker, is a gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogue that is 20x as powerful as the natural version. I am arguing that this is clearly resulting in a Prader-Willi-like syndrome that has left Jazz with joint hypermobility, obesity, and cognitive impairment. One mechanism behind Prader-Willi is a malformed hypothalamus that has impairment in the ability to experience social emotional pleasure from the act of eating. One mechanism behind Prader Willi's effect on the hypothalamus is the result of Chromosome 15 deletions that affect production of gonadotropin releasing hormone. I further argue that they are all very clearly aware of this, hiding it (because it is not in their interests to acknowledge the disability), and are attempting to instead abuse Jazz into taking full responsibility for his inflicted neurodevelopmental disability. Although I could find no public record stating that Jazz Jennings is under conservatorship, Greg Jennings states during the episode that they attempt to manage Jazz's clearly pathological eating by "throwing away food" and "limiting his access to money." What right do they have to do that? This is a Dr. "Wee Li'l Chonkies" Gallagher crossover episode that also depicts the sacrament of the revision surgery (including the rite to a special bandaid). There is also the comic relief of Jeanette and Jackie acting sexually inappropriate at a life drawing class while role-modeling for their literal grand/daughter. This is a public episode. In today's episode, we are so excited to be joined by the wonderful Sander Jennings. He is a creator, a digital marketing strategy expert, the Head of Marketing at Checkin, a love, positivity, and motivation spreader, an amazing LGBTQ+ ally, and the older brother of Jazz Jennings from TLC’s docuseries, I am Jazz. Throughout our conversation, Sander was very open about how it was for him growing up as Jazz's brother and how he dealt with being in the public eye. He masterfully cleared up some of the most common misconceptions about transgender people. For example, Sander had this to say about choice: "People don't choose to be transgender, people choose to come out. Yet support and becoming an LGBTQ+ ally is a choice." In addition, we discuss the need for allies to speak out and/or do what they can behind the scenes, the rewarding side of being an LGBTQ+ ally and advocate, how Sander deals with hate and bigotry online, and so much more. In This Episode, You Will Learn: What it’s like to be Jazz's brother (3:20) Being an ally and advocate is a choice (6:30) Sander’s unique perspective on hate online (10:50) About social media platforms and their role in stopping hate and bigotry from spreading online (17:10) How allies can provide more support (23:10) About Sander’s work as a creator and digital marketing strategist (30:05) Connect with Sander: Instagram Linktr.ee Connect with Jackie and Bridget: Transgender Support: Becoming a True Ally Video Course on Vimeo Transgender School Patreon Membership with all exclusive content Transgender School on Medium Instagram Website Facebook Community Facebook Group YouTube Hosted on Acast. Today on the Matt Walsh Show, Jazz Jennings is one of the most prominent trans-identified people in the country. He's also an abuse victim who has been brainwashed by the evil adults in his life, especially his mother. Jazz posted a video criticizing me this week, and I'll give my response today. Also, a woman accusing Tucker Carlson of creating a "hostile work environment" has been doing the media rounds. We'll analyze her claims today. And we have an all time classic to add to the catalogue of terrible Kamala Harris speeches. Finally, companies are sending "opt-out" emails to save customers from having to receive traumatic Mother's Day emails. What's that all about? Clark and Laura discuss Afroman's insane legal battle (and how to effectively embarrass the police), the moratorium on AI, and more on this episode of The Simpleton Podcast. Also in this episode: • Why is Clark in a cast and sling? • Can we make AI safe?; The lockdown on AI • What does AGI and "alignment" mean? • Jazz Jennings, "I am Jazz", and understanding transgender transitions • Norm Macdonald and the Christian idea of self-knowledge --- NOTE: Below are the links for the statistics and studies that Clark and Laura mention. One slight clarification: in the podcast, it is stated that when comparing the mental health profiles of TIY (transgender-identifying youth) and non-TIY, the statistics of s*icidal behavior are "the same". The line from the second article below provides clarification: "[when comparing the mental health profiles of TIY and non-TIY,] the disparities in s*icidal behavior reduced considerably, suggesting that it is not the lack of gender affirmation that seems to be driving s*icidal behavior." Key emphasis on "disparities" and "reduced considerably", as opposed to "[are] the same".
