Angelica Rivera (She/Ella) is an Afro-Dominican and bilingual Licensed Master Social Worker residing in and practicing in New York. Driven by a profound commitment to empowerment and equity, her work is characterized by an anti-oppressive, humanity-centered, and trauma-informed approach. Angelica is deeply dedicated to serving BIPOC, LGBTQ, immigrants, and survivors, striving to dismantle systemic barriers and build inclusive communities. Currently, Angelica serves as a School Social Worker at an alternative high school, providing comprehensive support to immigrant, refugee, and English language learners on their journey to obtain their GED diplomas. Angelica also serves as a therapist at a private practice, offering teletherapy to patients navigating a wide range of stressors, conditions, feelings, and thoughts. Angelica earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English Literature and Composition from the State University of New York at Binghamton and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the New York University Silver School of Social Work. Angelica joined the podcast to discuss the importance of consent, how clinicians and individuals can be supportive to survivors of sexual trauma and her own experiences in healing from sexual trauma.
